On 21–23 September 2022, Siberia International Exhibition Business Centre hosts the 23rd International specialized exhibition Expodrev-2022. Siberian Federal University presents its technological and research solutions for wood industry.
EXPODREV — an international specialized exhibition of technologies for the logging, woodworking and furniture industries, which has been held annually in Krasnoyarsk Territory for two decades and traditionally gathers leaders of the forest industry who present their latest developments.
This year, the SibFU’s stand presents the capacities of its School of Engineering and Construction that has a unique laboratory of low-rise housing construction.
Ilya Polyakov, the head of the low-rise housing construction laboratory: “The laboratory has several areas of work: design, technical inspection of buildings and technical and construction expert evaluation. Since the feature of our region is a developed material base for wooden construction, traditionally used for erecting private houses, the leading activity of the laboratory is wooden house construction. Currently, we are developing design documents for a house built using large-section pinewood. We have innovative offers not only for classic wooden houses but also for pre-fabricated structures. We are working on various glued wooden structures, they can be given different shapes, including round ones — this is technological wood, high-tech production with high efficiency.”
Research projects of the university are also presented at the exhibition, Members of Siberian Dendrochronological Laboratory explain to the guests of the event how the dendrochronological methods of wood research allows reconstructing the climate of the past and detecting illegal logging.
Valentin Barinov, senior researcher of the laboratory: “We are demonstrating wood-cuts collected in different parts of Siberia. There are several activities that we are engaged in — climatic and historic research, illegal logging investigations and assessment of the biological state of forest plantations in the city.”
Evgenia Turtapkina, vice-rector for Information Policy of SibFU, notes: “EXPODREV is an effective platform where companies demonstrate new models of equipment for forest industry, consult and establish contacts with investment partners. It is a great honour for us as, a university to demonstrate our scientific and technological developments along with the best enterprises in the forest industry. School of Engineering and Construction has the strongest staff. They have been working in cooperation with companies that specialize in the construction of wooden buildings, designing complex projects and technical documents. It is great that they can share experience with their colleagues and make them known internationally”.
